Making Space 365, Maximising The Potential Of Young People Through Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship In The Community
Project Number: 2020-1-PT02-KA227-YOU-007635
Erasmus+ project “Making Space 365: Maximising the Potential of Young People through Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship in the Community” in Portugal, Ireland, United Kingdom, Germany, Lithuania, Greece.
As Europeans, we recognize that culture and creativity are vital to our identity and the economy, though many do not understand their economic importance. This misunderstanding stems from history, as the cultural and creative industries have often been undervalued by politicians and professionals. During tough times, like the Covid crisis, creative works such as literature, music, and films have provided comfort and hope, but governments have not always acknowledged the significant civic role these sectors play, especially since they were heavily affected by the crisis.
Entrepreneurship fuels innovation and job creation, especially within the cretive sector, and is crucial for societal development and economic health. Promoting cretaive dialogue can also enhance local economic growth. Cultural and creative industries thrive on local traditions, helping to foster community ties and serve local needs.
Aims to maximize young people’s potential through creative and cultural entrepreneurship. It encourages collaboration among various decision-makers to create shared projects that address community needs in a bottom-up approach. The project highlights how cultural industries can drive innovation and support the local economy. Local governments are essential in uniting entrepreneurship with creativity, involving young people and decision-makers in shared creative activities.
Includes four main outputs: a framework for education and engagement, a youth training curriculum, a guidebook for civic action and creative events, and a creative calendar. An international training event will engage youth leaders, and each partner country will host a festival to celebrate the project’s results.
The project aims to empower young people and communities to actively participate in discussions and share their voices. By shifting decision-making involvement to include community members and local stakeholders, the project seeks to foster meaningful engagement with the creative sectors and develop a model that can sustain itself over time. Materials will be delivered both in-person and online to accommodate uncertainties and help young people make a lasting impact in their communities.
